The first of three Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials, “The Star Beast,” will premiere on Disney+ November 25. “Wild Blue Yonder” will follow on December 2 and “The Giggle” on December 9. The specials will reunite the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna Temple-Noble (Catherine Tate) as they come face-to-face with their most terrifying villain yet: the Toymaker (played by Neil Patrick Harris in his Doctor Who debut). Additional new cast includes Yasmin Finney as Rose Temple-Noble, Miriam Margolyes as the voice of the Meep and Ruth Madeley as Shirley Anne Bingham, as well as returning characters Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble, Karl Collins as Shaun Temple, and Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Ncuti Gatwa takes control of the TARDIS as the Fifteenth Doctor over the festive period and the new season will stream globally in 2024 on Disney+.
Season five of Fargo premieres November 21 on FX. The new season stars Juno Temple, Jon Hamm and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The latest installment is set in Minnesota and North Dakota, 2019. After an unexpected series of events lands “Dorothy ‘Dot’ Lyon” in hot water with the authorities, this seemingly typical Midwestern housewife is suddenly plunged back into a life she thought she had left behind. North Dakota Sheriff “Roy Tillman”has been searching for Dot for a long time. A rancher, preacher and a constitutional lawman, Roy believes that he is the law and therefore is above the law.
Matt Rife: Natural Selection premieres on Netflix November 15. After having amassed a large social following through his viral content showcasing his quick wit and crowd work, Matt embarked on a sold-out world tour. Now in his first Netflix comedy special, Matt leaves no topic untouched – from crystals to social media trolls – and no audience member spared.
Nate Bargatze is set to host Saturday Night Live October 28 on NBC. Foo Fighters will return as musical guest.
Dating competition series Twin Love premieres November 17 on Prime Video. Hosted by Brie and Nikki Garcia (formerly known as the Bella Twins), the social dating experiment explores the love lives of identical twins. Ten sets of twins will be split up and placed into two houses, creating identical casts, where they’ll begin a unique and compelling search for love. With double the fun and drama, the series will discover if their inherent similarities extend to their romantic desires. As the twins embark on their journey to find love, they are met with surprises along the way, as new sets of twins join the houses to heat things up. The series will also premiere simultaneously for free with ads on Amazon Freevee.
Tracy Spiridakos will be leaving NBC’s Chicago P.D. following season eleven. She has been a part of the show for the last 8 seasons. Her husband on the series, played by Jesse Lee Soffer, departed last season.
The price of Apple TV+ is going up. A monthly subscription will cost $9.99 while an annual pla will cost $99. It was previously $6.99 monthly and $69 annually.
Luke Bryan, Jelly Roll, K. Michelle, Little Big Town, Megan Moroney, Old Dominion, Carly Pearce, Chris Stapleton, Tanya Tucker and Lainey Wilson are set to perform at The 57th Annual CMA Awards. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the weeks ahead. The ceremony airs live from Nashville November 8 on ABC.
The second season of game show Split Second premieres on Game Show Network (GSN) November 13. Based on a format from game show legend Monty Hall, the series asks three contestants to decide in a split second which of three general interest trivia questions they can answer. The first player to buzz in gets the first pick, and the last player is left to answer whatever is left, which is often the most difficult. The player with the fastest response time and the highest success rate answering questions over the first three rounds advances to the bonus game where their ability to answer a rapid-fire series of questions could win them $10,000.
Docuseries Geddy Lee Asks: Are Bass Players Human Too? premieres on Paramount+ December 5. Famed Rush bassist Geddy Lee travels to the homes of some of music’s most renowned bass players and digs into the stories that make these musicians stand out. A follow-up to his recent book, “Geddy Lee’s Big Beautiful Book of Bass,” the new 4-part series features episodes with Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), Les Claypool (Primus), Melissa Auf der Maur (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins) and Rob Trujillo (Metallica).
Season two of docuseries Coach Prime premieres December 7 on Prime Video. The six episode season transports fans inside the locker room and onto the field of Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders’ University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) football program for the 2023 season. The new season of The Bermuda Triangle: Into Cursed Waters premieres November 14 on The History Channel. The same dive team that made international headlines last year when they discovered a 20-foot segment of 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger returns to the waters off the coast of Florida to make more mind-blowing underwater discoveries. In the season two premiere the team discovers the lost remains of an A-3 Skywarrior jet that fatally crashed in July 1960 while trying to land on the USS Saratoga. A thorough investigation by both land and sea results in a positive identification of the exact jet and the pilot and crew who lost their lives. The team meets with the pilot’s sons to share some long-awaited answers to what happened in the moments leading up to that fateful crash over six decades ago.
